He is 10 month old today. He has been a quiet boy the whole day. Unfortunately, his brother fell sick and had to be sent to the doctor. Anti-biotics were prescribed and dispense to him. Doctor is hoping it will not be the onset of bronchitis.

Idris always look forward to when his brother comes home. So today, he decided to do what his brother does when he reach home, homework. The picture shows Adam trying patiently to get Idris to let go of his collection of Robots drawings. Idris finally relented. He then had a go at printer.

Yup, thats right. He is eating ice cream. All thanks to his grandfather. And Idris love it. I have come to accept the fact that while Adam eats everything, Idris eats anything. And Alhamdulilah, he can stomach what he eats.

Yup, another milestone. This time, he managed to crawl from Adam's to my room. Adam is sitting there to prevent him getting into the bathroom. Well done Idris!

Idris having his first hair cut. He took it much better than we expected. No a single tear, more of a tonne of curiosity. That is Yok Peng. Our neighbour for the past 11 years or so. She was the one who did the first hair cut on Adam too.

Sleepy and hungry. Cannot communicate much over the strange baby vernacular. Thus, had to resort to audio and visual cues. Even though he is crying, he still eats when fed. Thus, it goes, waaa,,, mmm,, maaa!!, ahmmm!...
He has a taste of chicken rice nowadays.

Idris, seems to like the yellow ball more than the others. He gets agitated when he cannot put the whole ball in his mouth. That's Su looking on thinking as to whether the ball is clean.

Idris, uses his mouth to find out things around him. Many things that he can get hold on will inadvertently be put on to the taste test. Interesting phase of his life.

Idris is wearing an original Chelsea suit, and that is only for the second time. According to Su, he was given a choice as to what he wanted to wear and he chose this. The other one was a green T-Shirt.

Yup, thats him. Thats him being cheeky. He reached his 8 months milestone already. He does not cry when he is around lots of people anymore. He can waved goodbye and he clapped his hands when we sing "If you are happy and you know it..."

He needed something to play with. I had some newspapers which I have already read. I thought, what could go wrong. Well, a lot! For one, he produces such a mess, I wonder if I will ever get to remove all those small bits of papers hiding between the gaps of my bed.

I forgot that he likes to taste EVERYTHING and he did put some papers in his mouth. Since he is fine today, I guess a few bits of carbon should be ok.

Yup, its coming soon and it will be Idris's first. He is already testing out his songkok and samping.
He had his immunisation jabs today. Two shots. And they are all free, paid by the government. That was at 1030hrs. Now we are waiting for the fever to set in. We hope it will be smooth "rite of passage for him". Enjoying his time with his grandmother right now. His stuffy nose seems to be subsidiing. Its 1.44pm and soon his brother will be back from school. And we will be one big happy family again as Su has taken child care leave. Maybe a bit whinier because of the fasting, but hey, thats just how we roll.

Good Morning.

This is Idris, at home. Playing with sponge cubes. He just refuses to take his nap. I find that if you want a child to take a nap, you have to tire him. For Idis, I turn him over for tummy time. He hates that. He prefers sitting up and standing. Cheeky little fellow.

He is getting to more playful as the day goes by. This is him, slightly more than 6 months old. My mother in law comes over to help look after him every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She said that Idris is a gem to look after. Heh heh, nope, I beg to differ. As compared to his brother. Anyway, that is his brother holding him while he, cheekily, carried on smiling.

Idris seem to be more picky in his choice of sustenance. He does not have teeth and yet, he would put anything he can get his hands on in his mouth. I worry for him.

He likes to sit up nowadays. The only problem with him sitting up is that he cannot sit up on his own yet. But to have him sit up and to be able to crawl around, that will be too fast still. I can still remember when I first saw him. And I can still remember how loud he was. He is louder nowadays but less grumpy. He is adorable.

Part of me

No matter what happens, this little guy will always be part of me. A fact I cannot ignore. Not even when I raised my voice with him this morning. Bear in mind that I consciously raised my voice, thus I did not do it out of anger. Somebody has to be the bad person. I guess its up to me. I took on the bad person role with Adam, and although it hurts thinking about the things I had done, I am pretty sure I will do it again.
You just have to love that cheeky grin. That warm smile, and the beckoning eyes. I wonder if I was ever that cute.

Went to tante's house. She was not at home so, we took the opportunity to make ourselves comfortable. She had a pool, and we make the most of it. Although Idris had went swimming before, his mother, my wife decided that he can do without the float. From the picture, you can say that he did enjoy the swim.
He did exert himself more this time, and he spent the next day, sleeping more than usual.

5 months today!

Time flies. Idris is five months old already. His body seems to be getting longer. WIfe says he is experiencing his first growth spurt. I say that he is just straightening himself out!
He is now on pureed carrots. He loves it and attacks each spoonful like a healthy lion!
Banana gives him constipation though.
He can be so cheeky now. He pretends to cough when he wants to call somebody and now, he recognise voices instead of just names. Wow!

He is 3 months and 2 weeks old today. He went to the doctor last and he did not cry like the other babies when he was given his injection. He does weigh 7.1kg, and he does feel more than that!

On his first week's birthday, Idris jaundice level was found to be very high. The threshold was 260, his was at 330. It was heart wrenching to say the least. We could not have imagine to go home without him but we did. It was a quiet trip back. Tried to console ourselves that it could have been worse.
We met another couple there whose daughter's jaundice level rose even after treatment. We wished him the best as we did not meet them again.

This is us, bringing Idris to enjoy some sun. He was awake since half past 5 this morning, choosing to fool around rather than falling back to sleep. I played with him until half past 8 when I really have get up. Wan was late because of traffic and thus we get to enjoy a bit of family time together.

That is Idris and Su. Sleeping soundly by each other's side. Ever protecting. His sleeping pattern is waking up every one and half to two hours, to feed. And then he will go back to sleep again.

This is a picture of us, sans Adam outside KK ward 32. This is just before we hand over Idris to the nurse for his photo therapy. I think this was when he was 1 week old. Its not clear from the picture, but we were crying. His level was at 330. The threshold was 260.

Today is the 19th. That should mean that Idris is 12 days old. I guess, this should be the time when he starts to be able to recognise the people around him.

On his first week birthday, Idris's jaundice level was found to be very high, at 330. He was then referred to KK hospital. He was admitted for two nights and was discharged when his jaundice level was at 186.
Parents were not allowed to be in the nursery with but was allowed to visit. It was a very heart-wrenching period of our lives, to be separated from our new born.

This picture was taken by Su, showing Adam holding Idris for the first time in 24 hours. This was also the firstn time he said "I missed you" to his younger brother.
